Here is another ice shot from yesterday. This ice slab has been pushed up at the shoreline and has a layer of sand attached. Half the thickness is fairly clear and you can see the bubble lines moving up from the sand, and the other half is very milky coloured.

I went out to Pigeon Lake today to take shots of the ice. I like taking close up shots of the bubbles frozen in place which are easy to see in the big chunks of ice that are broken and pushed up at the shoreline.

Lunar Eclipse

I went out early this morning to see a lunar eclipse and try capturing some images. It was really hazy so it was not possible to get any clear shots. In this image I positioned the moon right over one of the glass pyramids of the Muttart Conservatory here in Edmonton. You can just make out the point of the pyramid but I had been wanting to get a little more to show. It is amazing how fast the moon moves when you position it against something close like this. I could get maybe two shots before having to reposition my tripod to keep the same perspective, so I didn't get quite what I wanted.

It is hard to believe so much time has passed since my last post of a photo. I have not been able to keep up with taking a photo every day but didn't think this much time would pass before posting.

This is a shot I took while visiting the Vernon, BC area over the last few days.

I was out at a friends property yesterday and it was cold, windy and overcast. But the sun came out while we were walking around the property causing the fields to glow. Amazing light, very beautiful.

This Canadian flag, outside the Western Counties Wing entrance to Parkwood Hospital in London, Ontario, was flying at half mast in memory of Ted Dawson.

Ted joined the RCAF, Allouette Squadron 425, at age 18 and started training as a pilot. His first flight log entry was on Oct. 18, 1943. He later retrained as a flight engineer.

In June of 1945, after the war was over, he was on a crew flying a Lancaster X KW-E back to Canada.

I bought Snapseed for my iPad to post process photos. I haven't had a chance to completely learn the application but so far really like being able to do adjustments by touch on the screen.

I'm in Toronto for work for the next week and decided to only take my iPad and point and shoot camera. I don't quite have it all worked out since I had to log in from a computer to finish this post, but I'll work at it and see if I can do everything from the iPad.

I shot a few images today to try with HDR in post processing. I liked the way these clouds turned out. I found that a field of grass in a slight breeze doesn't work very well.

I have decided to work at posting a daily photo again. I think having the goal to post every day will help me to keep at working to improve and pick up my camera every day. During this last month I have missed doing a daily photo and found I could let several days pass without taking any photos. So I'll see where this goes. I know there are some projects I want to make time for but I will still work at a photo a day.

Here are some house shots from Picton, Ontario. I loved all the old houses out there. The last photo shows a residence that was beside and part of a church. Apparently it was sold and is now being renovated as an Inn or B&B.
