This is sunlight shining through the gaps in fence boards onto the snow. Initially the image wasn't what I had pictured in my mind when I was taking the shot. The shadow wasn't dark enough to put the focus on the lines of sunlight. I applied a solarization filter to the image and found that gave me what I had pictured.

I noticed today that this little cactus had bloomed. It's amazing how these little plants can survive with so little attention. We usually forget to water it and it will go for weeks without.

When I went to post process this image and look at some different filter effects the first one was a conversion to black and white. I tried a few other filters but kept coming back to this black and white because I found it much more dramatic.

Continuing to work on post processing, but I didn't do a lot with this image. I increased the brightness and contrast a little and then darkened the edges slightly. Enlarging the view shows the network of small branches better.

The sun was out again today and it is now higher in the sky so that at the end of the day it is now coming in our west facing windows at the end of the day. Still quite an angle, but it is shining in. I like shooting water drops with the sunlight so I set up again today and did more water drop shots. Click on the above image to see a larger version. I think it works better larger.

I was at Pigeon Lake this weekend and this morning I went for a walk just after sunrise. The sun was out and I went back to where the ice had broken up along the shore. The sun was low and to the side and helped to brighten these bubbles trapped in the ice.

The light was nice just after sunrise this morning so I ran out and took a few shots. I didn't have time to go anywhere and in the end I didn't have any shots that seemed very exciting. So I tried some post processing effects and really liked how this solarization filter transformed this image.
