More light painting

© Peter Mitchell
Experimented some more with light painting. I have to get a lot better at drawing stick figures, or figures of any kind.

Stars

© Peter Mitchell
I went out to try some longer exposures tonight but there were clouds moving in. Although it added a soft feel to the images I was only able to get two shots before most of the stars were hidden. This image was 8.5 minutes long and it looks like I just got the north star in the top right. The one bright star is a point while the others are moving around it.

I will try again and change my framing to get the north star further into the image.

Rock and Bamboo

© Peter Mitchell
This morning I noticed the sun reflecting off one of our windows and onto this rock under the bamboo. So I grabbed my camera and took a few shots, but it wasn't long until the sun had moved enough that the top half of the rock was in shadow. I liked this one with the green bamboo leaves in the foreground.

Stars

© Peter Mitchell
I tried some shots of the stars tonight. It is amazing how much we move in two minutes and therefore end up with stars that look like hot dogs. This one was not as bad as the others, but it doesn't really show much. The three bright stars between the trees are part of the big dipper.

Nighttime

© Peter Mitchell
I tried a nighttime shot but didn't really like the way it came out, I will try again another night. So for today I added this effect to the image in post processing to try to make it look a little more interesting.

Maple Leaves

© Peter Mitchell
The late afternoon sun was shining through the trees onto these maple leaves. I converted it to black and white and then tried this 'antique' filter.

I tried different effects and settings on these dragonfly images, from very stylized to a solarization effect. All the images had a very shallow depth of field so the backgrounds were blurry to begin with.

Rain Today

We finally had some rain today, more than just a sprinkle, after a long spell without. This is our downspout chain.

Trying something different

© Peter Mitchell

I thought I would try some post processing filters and came up with these images. I couldn't decide on one and liked the way they looked together. I think they looked better larger but I couldn't include them here side by side and still have them large. So to see each one larger you will need to click on them.

One more

© Peter Mitchell
I saw this shadow yesterday and decided to try again today using a tripod. The leaf behind has opened up a little more and is not quite as nicely shaped as yesterday.

Took a bike ride along the Puntledge River today and stopped at these falls. The shadow caught my eye.

Caught

© Peter Mitchell
I went out this morning hoping to find dewdrops again. I wanted to get a better shot of a spiderweb that I took yesterday. But there was no dew this morning.  As I was looking around I found this grass stalk that was caught.
