We have had an inversion here that has held the fog in place for days. You couldn't tell if the sun was shining or not. We finally had a chance and drove up the mountain and into the sunshine. Lovely day for a snowshoe.
I was trying to capture water drops using a flash but didn't having much luck. I didn't get the settings right. But when I was going through the shots this one made me think of a comet, so I cropped and rotated it to end up with this.
No new photo again this day so this is from a few days ago. This is an ornamental cherry tree branch that was covered in snow which turned to ice as it melted.
No new photo for this day so I have used this one from a few days ago. There was a heavy wet snow which resulted in the bamboo beside our house to bend over.
It was raining when we left home to go snowshoeing and as we drove up the mountain we moved into cloud/fog. The rain had stopped once we started walking but the visibility dropped. This is what it looked like for most of the time we were out.
It was snowing again today and in this shot I went for a longer exposure to blur the falling snow. It is a busy background so it is harder to see, but there is a light streaking there.
We had more snow today and I liked the way the trees looked through the falling snow. In the end I'm not really happy with this because I think it would have been better showing more of the background tree line. But it didn't continue to snow that heavily so this is what I have today.
I took this photo of the gate again this year because of the contrast to last year (inset). Jan 1st a year ago was rainy compared to today with all the snow.
