The background here is part of the tree stump but I like the way it looks like a distant mountain range.

Ice on Whyte Festival

I went to the Ice on Whyte festival last weekend and was there when this "Fire and Ice" sculpture was lit up. It lasted about 20 minutes once the flames started and then half of it collapsed.

Here is another ice shot from my day out at Pigeon Lake.

Here is another ice shot from yesterday. This ice slab has been pushed up at the shoreline and has a layer of sand attached. Half the thickness is fairly clear and you can see the bubble lines moving up from the sand, and the other half is very milky coloured.
