The mountains in the background are on the mainland across the Strait of Georgia. This bay is quite shallow and it was a few hours before low tide. Still, it was a bit of a walk from the high tide line on the beach to the edge of the water, and you can see the sandbars that are exposed now in front of and behind the kiteboarder.
